The forensic science has been thrown and, on hearing the description of one
of the workers, immediately notified the Department of Archaeology,
University Federal. Two teachers were sent to the scene and after a brief
examination, found it was a funerary urn.
12 days of careful excavation, archaeologists have succeeded in removing the
artifact. The big surprise came when it was opened, there was a very well
preserved mummy. "This is certainly the greatest archaeological discovery
ever made in Brazil," said Professor Isaac Koenig.
Preliminary testing with carbon-14 estimated that the mummy is between
760-810 years old. According to teachers, it is known that natives of the
Tupac Amaru Guarani tribe lived in that area between the years 1100 to 1530,
though no proof or evidence of mummification had been found.
